A whole-home standby generator is a significant purchase, and most homeowners do not pay for one out of pocket. As an authorized Generac dealer, Peak Power Electric can offer Generac’s homeowner financing program, so the cost can be spread across monthly payments instead of landing all at once.
How the program works
Generac’s homeowner financing is issued through Synchrony Bank on a Home Design credit card. You apply, receive a decision quickly, and if approved you can use the account for both the generator and the installation — not just the equipment. The application is separate from your quote, so you can price the job first and decide about financing afterward.
Promotional terms
Generac periodically offers promotional periods — commonly 6 months and 18 months — during which no interest is charged if the balance is paid in full before the period ends.
Read this part carefully
These promotions are deferred interest offers, not zero-interest loans. The distinction matters and we would rather explain it than let you discover it later.
If you pay the promotional balance in full within the promotional window, you pay no interest. If any balance remains when the window closes, interest is charged from the original purchase date — not from the end of the promotion. On a five-figure purchase, that difference is substantial.
If you intend to use a promotional offer, decide up front what monthly payment clears the balance inside the window, and treat that as the real payment rather than the minimum shown on the statement.
Terms to expect
- Purchase APR of 26.99% on new accounts, per Generac’s published disclosures
- A one-time $29 account activation fee, charged when the first purchase posts
- $2 minimum interest charge
- Fixed monthly payments equal to 2.5% of the highest promotional balance
- The purchase must include turnkey installation to qualify
- The qualifying amount must appear on a single receipt
- All financing is subject to credit approval
Other ways people pay for this
Manufacturer financing is convenient, but it is not automatically the cheapest money available to you. Homeowners in East County also commonly use:
- A home equity line of credit — usually a materially lower rate for anyone carrying a balance beyond a promotional period
- An unsecured home improvement loan through a bank or credit union, with a fixed rate and a fixed term
- Paying outright, which remains the least expensive option if the cash is available
We have no financial interest in which of these you choose, and we will not push you toward one. Our part is the installation.
Start with the number
Financing questions are easier to answer once you know what the job actually costs. Get a range for your address first, then decide how you want to pay for it.
